When working from heights, you can’t afford to take risks. For short-term work, step ladders offer a sensible option. However, when your team is required to work from height for long periods, step ladders are no longer a viable option.

At STS Access, we have a variety of staging board options to enable professionals to move horizontally over a fixed board. Unlike a step ladder, you get the full length of the board. Staging boards can vary in length, ranging from 2.5m to 7.2m, with suitable support provided at both ends.

For safety purposes, you will also need to ensure that the staging board overlaps over a supporting structure, such as a tower or a trestle. The staging board exists in two widths, respectively 0.45m and 0.6m. These are typically used in construction projects, both domestic and commercial, both indoors and outdoors, depending on the space available.

Along with a staging board, your team also requires safety handrails, aka staging board handrails, that will prevent accidental falls. Handrails tend to provide two levels of safety, at hand and knee levels. Depending on your environment and requirements, you can request either single or double handrails that will be fixed to the staging board.

We also recommend taking a PASMA Working at Height training course to ensure your team knows and understands the safety best practices when working from height. As an approved provider of PASMA training, we can welcome delegates in our Reading branch for training and certification. They will learn advanced 3T, guard rail practices and safety requirements on scaffolding towers.
